Meet the Doctor
Dr. Shawn Tokunaga is a graduate of the University of Illinois and acclaimed Loyola University in Chicago. He was born in Hawaii but relocated to Chicago at a very early age. Dr. Tokunaga is very passionate about dentistry. His emphasis on patient comfort and staying up-to-date with dentistry's latest advancements enable him to provide patients with the best quality of care in the field. Dr. Shawn Tokunaga has a wide range of experience in dentistry, from cosmetic and restorative dentistry to surgical treatments.
Since opening his private dental practice in Arlington Heights in 1991, he has acquired many post-graduate education hours to stay updated with the latest studies and dental treatments. With years of experience, Dr. Tokunaga volunteers at Spear Education, one of the nation's leading high-level dental education centers. He feels extremely privileged to be in a community of like-minded dental professionals.
His approach to your treatment starts with patiently listening to you. Then, after a complete and thorough examination, he reviews and discusses the diagnosis and treatment options with you.

Dr. Tokunaga is all about dentistry but you may also find him fishing on rare occasions. He is happily married to his wife Mika, with whom he has two children.

Simona is our Patient Treatment Coordinator extraordinaire. She is beyond just a ‘coordinator’ as she cares deeply about each patient’s well-being and overall health. Simona’s loves helping serve patients and assist them in their treatment options. She joined the Tokunaga team in 2006 and has completed many years of Spear Experience Advanced training, surgical courses, and high-level national courses. She looks forward to helping patients sift through the ins and outs of treatment and assisting them in achieving the smile of your dreams.

Iris is our meticulous Registered Dental Hygienist. As a dental hygienist, her focus is on providing high-quality care to her patients and educating them on maintaining good oral health. She has been working with Dr. Tokunaga since 2000. Iris is compassionate, puts her patients at ease, and ensures a positive dental experience. She has attended many high-level Spear Education courses and is passionate about regularly staying current on new technologies.
